The Host movie?

Yup, you read right. Apparently The Host, a novel written by the ever-famous-for-what? author Stephanie Meyer, will indeed be a movie that will come out in March 2013 (according to IMDb). Now, according to Meyer, she sees The Host as a trilogy, meaning the movies will be as well. In high school, I admit, I was a fan of Twilight. But as I’ve gotten older and all the youngsters got bitten by the craze, I must say that love for the series certainly dwindled to a mere “Oh lord.” But despite my distaste for Twilight, I did give The Host a try. And I must say, I actually enjoyed it. It wasn’t about a whiny girl or dashing guys. Or even about vampires. Sure the idea wasn’t totally original, but she did give the idea of souls and aliens her own spin. I was glued till the end. So maybe I’m not thinking the Stephanie Meyer is the worst anymore; I just think that she did the world wrong with Twilight. Am I excited for this movie? Sure. Do I think it’ll be an award-winner? No. But that doesn’t mean I won’t go and see it — and I’ll probably re-read the novel before the movie comes out, too.

  1. Twilight is horrid. I don’t use the word loathe very often but. . . A vampire reproduces with a mortal? I heard that, plus the glitter in the daylight thing, and I never read or watched the series. I don’t know if I could read a Meyer book, just on principle.
