Books books books!

So last weekend I went to a book sale that supported a local charity, Calgary Reads… and boy, did I have some fun. I’m a serious shopper when it comes to books — I know what I want, how I’m going to get it and will search for a while just to be content with my purchases. Let’s just say my friend saw a different side me that evening…

But I am far too thrilled with my new books and just had to share with you all my new finds. Read ‘em and weep:

Needless to say, I’m quite excited to delve into them. Which ones have you read/recommend?

Oh, and I guess I should mention that I got all this for only $48  =)

  1. Wow, that’s so cool! I’m in Calgary right now but can’t believe I didn’t hear about this! I’ve read Austenland and The Secret Life of Bees. Just this year I’ve been reading a lot of Michael Crichton but haven’t read Pirate Latitudes or Timeline. Are you a big Crichton fan? And of course seen the movies for several of these but haven’t read the books. What an awesome haul! :)

  2. I’ve never actually read anything by Crichton – the guy I was with is a huge fan of him, so I felt like I should try him out. I’ll let you know what I think of him!
What are you in Calgary for?
    And thanks =)

    • I’m in Calgary to visit my boyfriend. He’s a Crichton fan and got me to read some books by him which I’ve enjoyed so far. His books just suck you in and you have to keep reading to find out what’s happening. They’re very addicting!

  3. TIMELINE is one of my favorite books of all time. If you saw the Paul Walker movie, be prepared to be way more amazed (the movie is VERY loosely based on the book and the book is a million times better…though, in fairness, I only watched the first 10 minutes of the movie before I turned it off in disgust. but I digress.)

I read Pirate Latitudes as well, decent.

The Thirteenth Tale was really good, too.

I have The Secret Life of Bees on my To Read list.

You have a good time ahead of you!

    • I’ve never read anything by Crichton before, so needless to say I’m excited to start soon! I’ve been itching to buy The Thirteenth Tale for so long, so I’m thrilled that I got it for way less (and in perfect condition) than I would have at Chapters. I guess we’ll see who gets to The Secret Life first! Happy reading =)
